Our Waldorf inspired dolls are entirely handmade using natural materials and fibres. I use 100% sheep’s wool as a stuffing material and robust cotton stockinet for the dolls skin. I make these dolls using the traditional Waldorf approach, using string the shaping technique. I enhance the expressions of their beautiful little faces with the felting technique. These dolls are great for kids who are a bit older such as 3 years or above and of course for collectors. Their clothes can be hand washed.
Their hair is also made 100% of natural animal fibres. I mostly weft each string of hair into a wig and crochet it onto the head because I find it more sturdy and it gives a beautiful natural hair look. As with human hair, you can brush this hair and design beautiful hairdos for each doll. However, please consider that the hair is probably the most delicate part of the doll.
All clothes are individually designed for each doll and hand sewn. We have different designs and sets of clothes to add. For example, the dolls which are born during winter times come with a beautiful winter jacket, a hat and warm shoes. Our summer babies have an additional light jacket for chilly nights and some cute slippers. All of our dolls are ready to be invited to fancy gatherings or special occasions since they come with one chic outfit that they love very much. Some dolls have tiny leather shoes and the purses are made from sturdy strings of the palm tree.
Currently, I make two types of Waldorf inspired dolls:
Waldorf Inspired Art Dolls
These dolls are a bit more sophisticated and with about 40 cm height, lager than the Baby Waldorf dolls. In addition to the face, I also use felting for the fingers and feet to give them more detailed features. These dolls are to additional armature joints, their heads, arms and legs can move.
I add armature joints so their heads, arms and legs can move graciously and play and posing becomes so much more fun. Due to this they require support to stand or sit.
Waldorf Baby Dolls
These dolls are a bit smaller with about 30cm height. Their facial features are also enhanced with the needle felting technique. However, the rest of their body simpler is a bit simpler since I sew their arms and legs directly to their body. This makes them ideal for younger children to play with. Also, these dolls can sit on their own.
